Wissberg
A photogenic summit tour from the Fürenalp with short scrambling bits and views in every direction.
A panorama in a class of its own
If you’re after a photogenic hike, the Wissberg is the place — at almost every point you can press the shutter and get a postcard. The first climb crosses an open alpine meadow to some small rock faces, and from there the path steepens and slowly shows its alpine character, with short scrambling passages between the rocky steps.
At the top the summit plateau invites you to rest, and the view is fantastic in every direction. The autumn days are especially lovely, when the lowlands lie under fog and the sun still has some warmth to give.
Tip: you’ll want sure feet and a bit of a head for heights — in return it’s a demanding hike with a panorama in a class of its own.
On my list but not yet walked myself — a personal report will follow.
