Out of the city. Into the mountains.
You live in Zurich, you see the mountains on the horizon, but you’re not quite sure where to start? Which hike is right for you? What does T2 actually mean? What gear do you need, and how do you plan a route?
That’s exactly what I’d like to help you with.
I’m Cornelia, a geologist with a PhD and a deep love of being outside. During my studies and my doctorate, I spent countless geological field trips not just walking through landscapes, but learning to read them: why is this mountain even here? How did these rocks form? And what does the landscape tell us about the history of the Alps?
On my guided hikes I want to bring both together: to spend a great day in the mountains together and give you the knowledge and confidence to soon head out on your own.
You don’t need any mountain experience or geological background for this. Just the urge to get out and discover something new.
Price
Free while I’m gaining experience — I’ll ask for a modest fee once I’m licensed. Transport and food are your own.
What’s included
- Route planning and guiding on the day
- Short notes on the geology under our feet, when the landscape asks for them
- Small group (up to about six)
How a day runs
We meet early at Zürich HB, take the train together to the trailhead, walk at a conversational pace with proper breaks, and finish over coffee or a Panaché in the valley before heading back. I’ll send the meeting point and a short prep note a few days before.
