Better walked in reverse

I’ll be honest: the first half of this stage is the weakest section of the whole Weg der Schweiz. From Flüelen up to Tellskapelle the route hugs the road — and the road is loud. Not “country lane” loud, properly loud.

Once you reach Tellskapelle, though, it gets good: from the chapel to Sisikon is the proper lakeside walk. So the whole stage genuinely works better in reverse — start in Sisikon, finish at Tellskapelle, maybe even tack it onto the Brunnen–Sisikon stage rather than walking it as its own thing.

Tip: just before the Tellskapelle boat stop there’s a lovely grill spot with firewood and a swimming entry — worth the detour. The boat schedule from Tellskapelle is irregular and the ticket isn’t cheap, so check both in advance. And above the chapel a glockenspiel plays a 10-minute piece on the full hour — plan a pause around it if you can.

How it went for me

I didn’t follow the marked Weg der Schweiz exactly — I drifted closer to the lake, which was clearly the better call. And if I walked the stage again I’d flip it, and simply skip the loud road section at the start. That way the lovely lakeside part is the last thing you remember, and it earns that spot.
