Strudeltöpfe Alp Mora
A sporty summer tour in the Grisons Alps: from Fidaz via Alp Lavadignas and Platt da Alva down to the rock pools of Alp Mora, finishing in Trin.
A day planned around rock pools
This one is a summer hike with a specific destination in mind, and that destination is: rock pools. Big, smooth, scoured-deep-into-the-bedrock pools at Alp Mora, the kind you actually plan a hot day around. From Fidaz, Bargis above Flims, the route climbs via Alp Lavadignas and Platt da Alva, then drops down to the pools.
The Strudeltöpfe are the whole point — clear water, smooth rounded basins, easily the best swim spot you’ll find on a hike with this much elevation gain. After a long break (you’ll want one), it’s a long descent through forest and meadow down to Trin.
Tip: significantly more down than up, so your knees will remember this one. And don’t forget your swim things — they’re the real reason for the walk.
