A gentle descent along the historic Stockalper trade road from Simplon Dorf through Gabi and Gondo, along the wild Gondoschlucht down to the Italian border.
Stockalperweg: Simplon to Gondo
Kaspar Stockalper built the road in the 17th century to carry salt across the Simplon, and much of the mule track survives. The Gondoschlucht at the bottom is dramatic: waterfalls, rock galleries and a 19th-century Napoleonic bridge.
