Muottas Muragl Panoramaweg
A relaxed panorama walk high above the Upper Engadine. From the Muottas Muragl top station, the trail follows the famous view over the Engadine lakes — little climbing, endless vistas.

The historic funicular climbs from Punt Muragl up to Muottas Muragl (2456 m), and from the top the whole Upper Engadine lake landscape opens up at your feet, with the Bernina massif beyond, peak after peak. Few views in the Swiss Alps show you so much at once.
The panorama trail runs comfortably along the slope of the Schafberg, through open Scots pine forest and past gnarled Arolla pine roots, with the Bernina range in view the entire way. Halfway along, the small Unterer Schafberg restaurant (2231 m), just below the trail, invites a break. The path keeps traversing the hillside and goes through a short rockfall tunnel. The final pull up to Alp Languard (2326 m) does bring on a bit of puffing, which is reason enough for a slice of cake on the sun terrace at the top.
Tip: From Alp Languard the chairlift drops you comfortably down to Pontresina, a fine excuse to give in to convenience. Those who still want to feel their legs can walk down through the larch forest instead, about 500 metres of descent.
