Lac de Salanfe

A big afternoon in the Dents du Midi: from Van d’en Haut the path climbs steadily past the Cascade de la Sauffla, leaving the larch forest for a wide upper plateau. At the far end sits the Lac de Salanfe under the south face of the Dents du Midi, with an inn and small chapel by the shore. Ibex and chamois are common on the slopes above. The return follows the same route back down to Van d’en Haut.
