Haggenspitz & Chli Mythe
A compact but committing loop in the Schwyz Alps linking two summits via exposed traverses, a chimney passage, and a short climbing section to the Chli Mythe.
Small on the map, big on the ground
Don’t be fooled by the modest distance on the route card — this little loop packs a remarkable amount of terrain into a short day. The line up to the Haggenspitz includes several exposed traverses where you could (and depending on your party, probably should) place protection. If old snow is still hanging around on the normal route, the Müller-Kamin chimney is a really fun alternative that climbs cleanly and avoids the worst of it.
Then there’s the Chli Mythe. The climb onto it is short, but it’s the kind of short that earns the rope coming out of the pack. The other thing worth flagging is route-finding: the area is criss-crossed with use-trails, and the most obvious line is not always the correct one. Stop, check, and don’t just follow the bootprints in front of you because they look confident.
Tip: a 30 m rope works for the Chli Mythe climb, but it’s on the short side — bring something longer if you’ve got it.
