Learning as you go

The Grotzliweg is a short, easy loop high on the Fürenalp, made for families and anyone who likes to learn a little about the mountains along the way. Around ten stations tell you about the local animals, plants and rocks, and there’s a wide view over the high-alpine landscape throughout. (A “Grotzli,” by the way, is Engelberg dialect for a young spruce.)

At just 150 metres of climbing and barely an hour and a half, it’s a relaxed outing, with a lovely restaurant at the top station inviting you to linger at the end.

Tip: ideal with kids and easily done in half a day — there’s plenty of time left for a long stop on the terrace.
