Wild water and a slice of tart

This tour is proof that “easygoing” and “wild” don’t have to be mutually exclusive at all. It runs through meadows and forest, always alongside the glorious Engelberger Aa — and that water is truly the star of the day: turquoise, untamed, sometimes broad and leisurely, sometimes thundering over the rock in huge waterfalls. You’re guaranteed not to get bored out here.

All around, the cows clang their bells across the meadows, butterflies perch among the countless flowers, and the imposing mountains tower over it all. At around 320 metres of ascent and roughly four hours, it’s a relaxed out-and-back that’s worth doing in any season.

Tip: the goal is the Stäfeli mountain restaurant, where a tart with toasted almonds and cream is waiting. And if hunger strikes earlier, there’s the Alpenrösli mountain restaurant along the way for a stop.
